REAKY
fANG
Reaky Fang is a grade 10 high school student in Canada, he is intrigued by math and the physical sciences. He enjoys participating in math contests and received awards on multiple contests such as AMC 8, CJMC, Pascal, Cayley, and others. He is the Founder of Bonds of Nature Organization (BONA), focused on empowering youth and older generations to better explore the great outdoors.
My Story
When moving from China to Canada in grade 3, Reaky was anxious to say goodbye to family and friends. This is when he learnt that some change wasn’t the end of the world. Moving to a new country taught him how to deal with change, adapting to new circumstances in his new home.
Currently, Reaky is a grade 10 student that enjoys doing STEM subjects, such as physics and math. He also has a large role in his school’s badminton team, coaching the lower grades while also training to improve his own skill. As a member of Scouts Canada, Reaky enjoys spending time outdoors, and wishes to spread his interest to others, thus creating the Bond of Nature Association, a group dedicated to educating families with youths and protecting the environment as well as hosting outdoors events such as hiking, camping, and skiing. Reaky enjoys playing badminton and is a part of his school’s team. He played in his team during provincials and they secured 5th place in British Columbia.
When asked about his passion for sustainability, Reaky has observed that critical changes to earth’s systems, generally human-led, causes global warming, and furthermore he has seen how exhaustion of these limited resources have increased emissions and damaged the ozone layer. This leads him to see the urgency of working towards sustainable energy sources in lessening the effects of global warming, which is currently worsened by the overuse of AI. In the long run, natural resources shortages can further exacerbate pollution as lower quality or more economically viable alternatives are being used as a replacement, leading to more extreme weather patterns and further destabilising earth’s system.
To tackle the above, Reaky aspires to attend a prestigious university after he graduates high school and wants to pursue a career in engineering to bring forth a new generation of sustainable development.
